Government Relations & Advocacy
The Independent Surgical & Diagnostic Clinics of Ontario will continue to be a non-partisan voice for all now-known-as community-based surgical and diagnostic imaging clinics owned by non-physicians and physicians throughout our province. As it did as the IDCA, the ISDCO also will continue to be actively engaged in advocacy and education on behalf of and among its members and the industry as a whole.
Independent community surgical and diagnostic centres governed under the new legislation and its regulations will continue the valuable service of independent health facilities, which performed more than 50% of all medical and diagnostic imaging studies in Ontario. Nearly 1,000 community-based centres will continue to ensure high-quality care and lower-cost provision of healthcare services to Ontarians.
Like the IDCA, the ISDCO is committed to:
- Achieving excellence in patient care through the development and maintenance of high standards in the quality of health care services;
- Promoting early detection and early intervention;
- Contributing to the effective management of diagnostic services in Ontario through collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders; and,
- Supporting its members and enhancing the status of independent community surgical and diagnostic centres throughout Ontario.
Respected for its constructive opinions and solutions, the ISDCO will continue its government relations as a trusted advisor to the Ministry of Health and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario through direct dialogue, consultations, as well as through participation on several advisory groups and community-based committees designed to improve Ontario’s changing healthcare system.

Promotion of our Issues
With the input of members, specific strategic priorities advocated for include technical fee inequities, equipment upgrade grants, professional staffing shortages, quality assurance and others that directly and indirectly impact the scope of practice and operations of community-based surgical and diagnostic imaging clinics.
